City of Georgetown, Texas, Reduces Planned Capital Spending by 78%

We recently processed the latest capital spending plan by the City of Georgetown, Texas. Here are our observations. 

In the CIP covering the 2025-2029 fiscal years, City of Georgetown, Texas detailed plans to spend $290.8 million on capital projects, a decrease of 78% from $1,325.6 million in its 2024-2028 CIP. The current CIP has 76 line items, compared to 118 line items in the prior CIP. The table below breaks down City of Georgetown, Texas’ planned capital spending by business area for its last two CIPs.

Decrease on Georgetown’s Spending Across All Business Areas

Planned spending for Georgetown, Texas, plummeted across all categories. The largest decrease is in the Wastewater category, which dropped by 91% due to the III Forks Wastewater Treatment Plant project no longer being included in the current period, amounting to $151 million. The Facilities category also saw a decrease of 92% due to the completion of GMC II.

Georgetown, Texas, Unveils $53M in Southeast Inner Loop

 Georgetown, Texas, has outlined several line items valued at over $10 million. The most notable projects include widening the Southeast Inner Loop, under the  Streets category, worth $53 million and designing the Wolf Ranch Parkway, under the Georgetown Transportation Enhancement Corporation category, worth $25 million. Other line items include:

  • Ground Water Supply from East - under the Water category, worth $17 million.
  • System Resiliency - under the Water category, worth $15 million.
  • Williams Drive- under the Streets category, worth $12.4 million.
  • Northlands Wastewater Treatment Plant - under the Wastewater category, worth $11.3 million.
  • SH 138 Water Line Upgrade - under the Water category, worth $10 million.
  • YMCA Partnership - under the Facilities category, worth $10 million.
