In the CIP covering the 2025-2029 fiscal years, State of Rhode Island detailed plans to spend $9.2 billion on capital projects, an increase of 6% from $8.4 billion in its 2024-2028 CIP. Planned spending in the Transportation category increased by 20% with funding towards existing projects. On the other hand Natural Resources and Public Safety decreased by 27% and 19% due to ongoing projects nearing completion.
State of Rhode Island has five notable line items valued at over $100 million. The largest line item is the School Construction Bond, worth $198 million, under the Educational Facilities Category. This project involves funding for the construction of school facilities as well as rehabilitation and renovation of existing school facilities. Listed below are the other notable line items:
