In the CIP covering the 2025-2029 fiscal years, Wicomico County, Maryland, detailed plans to spend $194 million on capital projects, an increase of 45% from $134 million in its 2024-2028 CIP. The current CIP has 97 line items, compared to 91 line items in the prior CIP. The table below breaks down Wicomico’s planned capital spending by business area for its last two CIPs.

Planned spending in the Enterprise Projects category increased by 37% due to funding for ongoing projects. The Airport category also increased by 40% with funding for the new Fire Suppression for Hangars and Business Park project.
Three line items exceed $20 million in value. The most significant is the $24 million landfill expansion at Newland Park, which has secured a Phase II expansion permit through a five-year approval process involving geotechnical testing and groundwater monitoring for cells 11-16. Next is the $22 million new building for Emergency Services, which includes a dispatch center and an Emergency Operations Center, with FY 26 funding for design and planning. Lastly, the $21 million planning for Fruitland Primary aims to replace the outdated 1964 structure, highlighting the need for modern early childhood education facilities.
