City of Cape Coral, Florida, Planned Capital Program Increased by 28%

In the CIP covering the 2024-2029 fiscal years, City of Cape Coral detailed plans to spend $1.9 billion on capital projects, an increase of 28% from $1.5 billion in its 2023-2028 CIP. The current CIP has 1,143 line items, compared to 877 line items in the prior CIP. The table below breaks down City of Cape Coral’s planned capital spending by business area for its last two CIPs.

Increase For Ongoing Projects

Planned spending in the Utilities category decreased by 48% due to the North UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Collection & Distribution and North UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Transmission projects that were transferred to the Capital Improvement Programs category, a new Business Area added, with over $900 million planned spending. 

Water-Related Projects to Receive Over $100 Million of Investment

The City of Cape Coral, Florida, has four notable line items valued at over $100 million and four at over $50 million. The largest line item is the North 5 UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Collection & Distribution, worth $156 million, under the Capital Improvement Program category. Listed below are the other notable line items:

  • North 4 UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Collection & Distribution - worth $155 million, under the Capital Improvement Program.
  • North 4 UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Transmission - worth $115 million, under the Capital Improvement Program.
  • SW WRF 5 MGD Capacity Expansion - worth $100 million, under the Utilities category, under the Capital Improvement Program.
  • North 1 East UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Transmission - worth $96 million, under the Capital Improvement Program.
  • North 3 UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Collection & Distribution - worth $89 million, under the Capital Improvement Program.
  • North 5 UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Transmission - worth $85 million, under the Capital Improvement Program.
  • North 3 UEP Water, Sewer, Irrigation Transmission - worth $84 million, under the Capital Improvement Program.
