City of Las Vegas, Nevada, Planned Capital Expenditure Increased by 15%

We recently processed the latest capital improvement program from City of Las Vegas, Nevada. Here are the insights we observed. 

In the CIP covering the 2024-2028 fiscal years, Las Vegas detailed plans to spend $1.7 billion on capital projects, an increase of 15% from $1.5 billion in its 2023-2027 CIP. The current CIP has 373 line items, compared to 361 line items in the prior CIP. The table below breaks down City of Las Vegas’ planned capital spending by business area for its last two CIPs.

Increase Due to Ongoing Projects

Planned spending in the Road & Flood category increased by 15% with funding towards ongoing projects. Parks and Leisure Activity also increased by 45% for the same reason. 

City Facilities Project to Receive Over $100 Million

Las Vegas has one notable line item valued at over $100 million and two at over $40 million. The largest line item is the construction of the Civic Plaza Project that is expected to be completed on June 30, 2025, worth $171 million, under the City Facilities category. Another $47 million is planned for the construction of the US 95 @ Grand Teton Overpass from Durango. Improvements will also include roadway improvements, drainage improvements, and traffic signals. Lastly, $45 million goes to WPCF Headworks Rehabilitation Project which will be completed on June 30, 2026.
