In the CIP covering the 2025-2029 fiscal years, the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection detailed plans to spend $2.5 billion on capital projects, an increase of 6% from $2.4 billion in its 2024-2028 CIP. The current CIP has 17 line items, compared to 18 line items in the prior CIP. Waste Management Spending Increases: Investments in Cleanup and Park Facilities

Planned spending in the Waste Management category increased by 21% with funding for the ongoing Petroleum Tanks Cleanup, which increased by $200 million from the previous period. The State Park Facility Improvements under the Recreation and Parks category also increased by $25 million. On the other hand, the Closure of Piney Point under the Water Resource Management, costing $85 million is anticipated to be completed by December 2024. 

Florida DEP Invests $250 Million in State Park Facility Improvements

The State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection has only one notable line item and is valued at over $100 million. The line item is the State Park Facility Improvements, costing $250 million.
